The assembly and sealing of windows and doors is a task that requires a great deal of planning, particularly when the window and door elements are at ground level in cavity walls. They require special protection against moisture at the base point at the transition between the base seal/wall edge strip and ground-level window. The latest version of the Energy Saving Ordinance (German Energy Saving Ordinance – EnEV) specifies requirements for the tightness of the building envelope in § 6 Tightness, minimum ventilation (Tightness, Minimum air exchange rate).

It states that “buildings must be designed so that the heat-transmitting surface area including joints is permanently impermeable to air and is sealed in accordance with the recognised technical rules”. With the self-adhesive EISEDICHT® / btf base point sealing collar, the structural openings can be raised and sealed up to the frames of ground-level windows and doors.

They ensure there is a seal with the ground-level windows and doors as well as a base point seal from the wall edge strip to the base seal. The self-adhesive aluminium butyl composite ensures they offer not only a high level of composite adhesive strength but also absolute vapour tightness.
